A Discord font generator gives you Unicode letters that already look bold, gothic or boxed, so you can style the parts of Discord that markdown can't reach: names, statuses, roles and channel names. You copy a style here and paste it straight into Discord.
Messages are a different case. Discord already has built-in bold and italics there, and those are usually the better choice.

Breaking the Limits of Standard Discord Markdown with Custom Unicode Layouts
Use markdown in messages and Unicode everywhere markdown doesn't work. Discord's markdown handles bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, spoilers, code blocks, quotes and headers, but only inside messages and a few profile spots.
Type **Nova** into your display name and you get the stars, not bold text. That's the gap Unicode fills. ๐ก๐ผ๐๐ฎ stays bold in names, statuses, role lists and channel sidebars.

Use Unicode for

The two also mix well. A rules post can open with a Unicode banner like โโโ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ โโโ and then switch to plain markdown for the rules themselves.

Styling Server Roles and Channel Lists for Better Community Engagement
Style category headers and role names, and keep the actual channel words plain. New members scan the sidebar to find the rules and the main chat, so clear sections help them settle in instead of leaving.
Discord turns text channel names into lowercase words joined by hyphens. Symbols like โ and ใป survive that, which is why layouts such as โใปgeneral are everywhere. The word "general" stays plain, so members can still type #general to link it.
- Categories: bold caps between rules, like โโ ๐๐ก๐๐ข โโ, give the sidebar clear sections.
- Roles: one symbol per rank makes the member list readable, such as โฆ for owners and โ for mods.
- Channels: one divider style across the whole server. Mixing โใป and โญใป looks unplanned.
- Avoid styling the channel word itself. #๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น is hard to type and hard to search.
Themes
Which styles read best in dark and light mode?
Bold Sans, Small Caps and Monospace hold up in both themes. Thin styles like Script and Italic Serif lose contrast on dark backgrounds, where most people use Discord.
Use the Dark and Light buttons above the cards to check before you copy. If a style looks faint in dark mode, it will look fainter still in a busy member list.
