Slash Through Text Generator

Cut your words with diagonal slashes like S̷l̷a̷s̷h̷ and t̸e̸x̸t̸, comb teeth or full slash lines. Every result is plain Unicode, so the cut stays when you paste it into a bio, title or post.

0 / 150

Instagram bios allow 150 characters. Each slash mark counts as 1.

Cover

Letters only cuts each letter and leaves gaps clean. Letters and spaces runs the cut through the gaps too, so the line looks unbroken.

How to Use the Slash Through Text Generator

  1. Enter your text. Type a word or phrase, one per line, and pick Instagram, X post, LinkedIn headline or YouTube title so the counter matches.

  2. Scan the cuts. Filter the grid by Diagonal, Variants, Comb or Full to compare single diagonal cuts, comb accents and full slash lines. Switch Cover to Letters and spaces for an unbroken line.

  3. Copy with one click. Tap Copy and wait for the green “Copied!”. The button keeps its size, and the letters and marks are copied together, so the cut stays when you paste.

Tip: Slash one word, not the whole line. “I’m t̸i̸r̸e̸d̸ fine” lands better than a fully cut sentence.

The guide

Slash Through Text Generator – Diagonal Cuts, Comb Lines and Full Slashes

A slash through text generator adds a combining slash mark after each letter, so “Slash” becomes S̷l̷a̷s̷h̷ and the cut stays in place when you paste it. The mark has no width of its own; it draws across the letter before it.

Slashes read differently from a straight strikethrough. A horizontal line says “deleted”, while a diagonal cut reads more like “not this”, which is why people use it for irony, like “I’m t̸i̸r̸e̸d̸ fine.”

Which cut gives which look?

Slash-through styles with examples
StyleExampleMark used
Short SlashS̷l̷a̷s̷h̷U+0337, a short diagonal
Long Slasht̸e̸x̸t̸U+0338, a full-height diagonal
Fraction CutS⁄l⁄a⁄s⁄hU+2044, a slash between letters
Comb BelowS̩l̩a̩s̩h̩U+0329, one tooth under each letter
Tilde CutS̴l̴a̴s̴h̴U+0334, a wavy line through the middle

Want a flat line instead? The strikethrough generator covers straight, double and dashed strikes.

What most guides miss

Why doesn’t this tool have a backslash cut?

Because it breaks on too many screens. Unicode does have a backslash overlay (U+20E5) and a double slash overlay (U+20EB), but they belong to a block meant for symbols, not letters.

When we tested them in Chrome on a standard Linux build, every letter came out as an empty box. The short and long slashes rendered cleanly on the same machine, so the tool sticks to those, plus comb and tilde marks from the same well-supported block.

Shows as boxes on many devices

Letters with U+20E5 or U+20EB overlays

Renders almost everywhere

S̷l̷a̷s̷h̷ (U+0337) and t̸e̸x̸t̸ (U+0338)

Headlines

Can you use slashed text in a headline or title?

Yes, for one word. A LinkedIn headline like “Product designer, n̸o̸t̸ a wizard” gets a second look, but slash the whole line and nobody can read it in a search result.

Keep the words people search for unslashed. Search boxes treat S̷l̷a̷s̷h̷ as different characters from “Slash”, so a slashed job title or video keyword won’t match. YouTube titles cap at 100 characters, and every slashed letter uses two of them.

Length

How much longer does slashed text get?

Twice as long, at least. Each slashed letter is the letter plus one mark, so “Slash” is 10 characters, and Double Cut or Crossed Out use three per letter.

Covering the spaces adds one more character per gap. On X, the marks count as 1 each, so a slashed word costs twice its plain length but no more.

  • Instagram bio (150): about 70 slashed letters.
  • LinkedIn headline (220): plenty for one slashed word plus your real title.
  • YouTube title (100): slash one word; a fully slashed title fits only about 50 letters.

Older phones

Does slash-through text work on older phones?

The marks themselves are old and widely supported. U+0337 and U+0338 have been in Unicode since 1993, so almost every phone has a font that knows them.

What changes on older builds is placement. Some older Android fonts draw the slash beside the letter instead of across it, or show a dotted circle ◌ where the mark can’t attach. If you see that on a phone that should handle it, send the model, app and text to linkjuiceworld@gmail.com and we’ll check it.

Spacing

Why does the same slash look different on iPhone and Android?

Each phone’s font decides how long the slash is and where it sits. On a narrow letter like i or l, a long slash can reach into the letters next to it on one phone and stay neatly inside on another.

Spaces behave differently too. With Letters and spaces, the gap carries a mark, but some apps trim spaces at the start or end of a line, which removes the mark with them. Fraction Cut avoids that by putting a real slash character between letters.

Need a flat line through your text?

The strikethrough generator has straight, double and dashed strikes.

FAQ

Slash Through Text Generator FAQ

Can I use slashed text in a LinkedIn headline or YouTube title?

Yes, but slash one word and keep the searchable words plain.

Search treats slashed letters as different characters, so a slashed job title or keyword won’t match. LinkedIn headlines allow 220 characters and YouTube titles 100, and each slashed letter uses two.

How many characters does slashed text use in a bio?

Two per letter for single slashes, three for Double Cut and Crossed Out.

“Slash” becomes 10 characters, and covering spaces adds one per gap. The counter on each card shows the real total for the platform you picked.

Why does the slash look wrong or show a circle on my old phone?

The phone’s font is placing the mark badly or can’t attach it, so it shows a dotted circle ◌.

The marks themselves date from 1993 and work nearly everywhere; placement is what varies. Try Fraction Cut, which uses a normal slash character. If it still breaks, email the model, app and text to linkjuiceworld@gmail.com.

Why do slashes reach into neighbouring letters on some phones?

Each font draws the slash at its own length, and narrow letters like i and l leave little room.

Short Slash stays inside the letter more often than Long Slash. For even spacing everywhere, use Fraction Cut or Comb Below.

What’s the difference between slash-through and strikethrough text?

Strikethrough draws a flat line and reads as “deleted”; a slash cuts diagonally and reads as “not this”.

Both use combining marks, so both double the length. Use slashes for irony or a playful correction, and strikethrough for a clear edit.
