The guide
Twitter (X) Font Generator โ Stand Out in the Fast-Moving Timeline Feed
A Twitter (X) font generator turns your words into Unicode letters that already look bold, italic or serif, so a post, bio or display name keeps that style after you paste it. X's post box has no bold button for most accounts, so copying styled characters is how people format their hooks.
Everything here is plain text to X. It shows the same on the iPhone app, Android and the website, in light mode or lights out.
Where can you use styled text on X?
| Field | Limit | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Post | 280 | Bold the first line only |
| Bio | 160 | One styled label, like ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ |
| Display name | 50 | Works, but keep your real name readable |
| @handle | 15 | Not allowed: letters, numbers and _ only |
Character count
Why does bold text use up 280 characters so fast?
X counts each bold, italic or serif Unicode letter as 2 characters. Normal Latin letters and punctuation count as 1, but anything outside that range, including emoji and styled letters, counts double.
So "Here's the playbook" is 19 characters in plain text and 35 in ๐ฏ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ (the apostrophe and spaces still count as 1). A fully bold post fits roughly 140 letters, not 280.
That's why the counter above uses X's rules in Post mode. Every card shows what X will actually count, so you won't get the red "over the limit" warning after pasting.

The Power of High-Contrast Bold Text Blocks in Increasing Impressions and Retweets
Bold text doesn't earn impressions by itself. It gets the first line read, and a post that gets read gets the replies and reposts that make X show it to more people.
The ranking code X published in 2023 weighted replies and reposts far above likes. A hook that makes someone stop and reply is worth more than one that gets a quick like.
On a lights-out timeline, a heavy white line stands out against the grey body text around it. Here's the difference:

The number did most of the work; the bold just made sure people saw it. Bold one line per post, and use a line spacer between sections of a long thread instead of more bold.
Mistakes
What should you keep plain on X?
- Keywords people search for. X search won't match ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐๐น๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ to "newsletter".
- Hashtags and @mentions. Styled versions don't link or notify anyone.
- Whole posts. A post that's entirely bold halves your space and is hard to read with a screen reader.
- Links and numbers people need to copy, like a code or a price.
